Katie Murphy

Katie Murphy’s growth as an artist and person is evident on her new EP, 'Exes & Uh Ohs', which stays true to her touchstones of love, family and relationships. “It’s a lot sassier than my last CD. Exes & Uh Ohs mostly explores how to mature in a relationship and all the mistakes we can make while in one. It’s essentially a series of break-up stories,” Katie explains.
The incredibly powerful, upbeat music stands in contrast to the rather heavy subject material tackled on the album – giving 'Exes & Uh Ohs' artistic depth and meaning. The song “Don’t go after girls who warn you” is a foreboding, cautionary tale of a couple considering reconciliation. Then, there’s the anthem “Oooo! (She’s got a lot going on!)” - a confidence boosting morale builder Katie wrote to lift her own spirits. 'Exes & Uh Ohs', like Katie’s real-life story, has a happy resolution. “We didn’t make the transition from young lovers into a family well. Luckily, we found each other again.”
After releasing her first CD, the critically acclaimed 'A Nest in a Box' in 2005, the Winnipegger criss-crossed the country to tour and showcase, gaining tons of fans along the way. Her music has been licensed for MTV programs Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Road Rules and The Real World. Katie’s song “Pushing Flowers”, co-written with Toronto producers Version Xcursion, reached #1 on CBC Galaxie’s radio charts in March 2006. Katie has performed at major industry events like North by Northeast (NXNE) and RedGorilla MusicFest.
