CanIndie was created for one simple reason...... to help Canadian Independent Recording Artists market themselves on the Internet.

Zane Hrynewich, founder of CanIndie, has fifteen years of experience as an Internet Marketing Specialist.  He is also a music educator and an ex-performing musician.

As owner/Head of Internet Concept Design at  CyberSlang Consulting, he has participated in developing Internet strategies for hundreds of companies.

In the summer of 2009, Zane was approached by a group of Canadian Independent Artists, for advice about increasing their profiles on the Internet. As a result, he began researching what methods the majority of artists were utilizing to showcase themselves on the worldwide web. He soon realized the following:

There are thousands and thousands of talented Canadian Independent Recording artists trying to promote themselves across Canada today.

Most of these artists realize the best way to reach a global audience today is via the Internet.

Most of these artists do not have the resources, knowledge, time, or budget to develop an in-depth, comprehensive, and effective Internet marketing plan.

Most of these artists rely primarily on "social networking" sites, such as MySpace and FaceBook to provide them with some sort of Internet profile. This, in itself is not a bad thing, however, being membership-based, they offer minimal exposure and limited Search Engine placement.

There seems to be a need for an online "portal", allowing Canadian Independent Recordings Artists to present their talents on a global level.

 Upon recognizing the above facts, Zane asked himself a simple question. What If?.....

What If.....there was somewhere online where fans, talent scouts, bookers, producers, managers, and agents could easily access and view information about Canadian Independent Recordings Artists of all genres, and from all areas of Canada?

 What If..... each artist's profile was set up at NO CHARGE, and included a bio, pics, music examples, and links to their existing online pages, such as MySpace, FaceBook, I-Tunes, etc.? 

What If..... the site was created by CyberSlang Consulting, a company with over fifteen years experience in website design, specializing in building "Google - friendly" sites - a big plus in building a stronger online profile for each artist?

What If..... services like custom website design, blog design, and graphic design were offered to members at hugely discounted rates, making it much easier for upcoming artists to develop a strong online profile?
